چکیده
J ust after midnight on March 24, 1989, the giant oil tanker Exxon Valdez ran aground on Bligh Reef off the coast of Alaska, spilling almost 21 million gallons of crude oil into the sea. The disaster caused an oil slick that covered 3,000 square miles and contaminated 1,090 miles of coastline along the pristine Prince William Sound, killing thousands of marine creatures and costing Exxon $1.28 billion in clean-up costs.

Evaluation of the Quality of Beta-Carotene Derived from Azolla Filiculoides in the Anzali Wetland Using the Organic Solutions Method in Autumn
Background and Objectives: Beta-carotene was prepared from Azolla by Lejeune et al. (2000). Beta carotene production from Azolla filiculoides in the Anzali wetland has not been investigated in Iran so far. The present project was aimed at determining the content, quality, and purity of β-carotene extracted from Azolla filiculoides in the Anzali Wetland, and comparing it with synthetic β-caroten...
متن کاملHUNTER-GAT : Three Search Techniques Integrated for Natural Language Semant its
This work’ integrates three related AI search techniques constraint satisfaction, branch-and-bound and solution synthesis and applies the result to semantic processing in natural language (NL). We summarize the approach as “Hunter-Gatherer:” o branch-and-bound and constraint satisfaction allow us to “hunt down” non-optimal and impossible solutions and prune them from the search space. e solutio...
متن کاملEvaluation of PHI Hunter in Natural Language Processing Research.
OBJECTIVES We introduce and evaluate a new, easily accessible tool using a common statistical analysis and business analytics software suite, SAS, which can be programmed to remove specific protected health information (PHI) from a text document. Removal of PHI is important because the quantity of text documents used for research with natural language processing (NLP) is increasing. When using ...
متن کاملGeneralized Hunter-saxton Equation and the Geometry of the Group of Circle Diffeomorphisms
We study an equation lying ‘mid-way’ between the periodic HunterSaxton and Camassa-Holm equations, and which describes evolution of rotators in liquid crystals with external magnetic field and self-interaction. We prove that it is an Euler equation on the diffeomorphism group of the circle corresponding to a natural right-invariant Sobolev metric. We show that the equation is bihamiltonian and ...
